Edward C (Ed) Arditte served as board member, Treasurer and was Chairman of the Autoimmune Encephalitis Alliance at the time of his passing in 2023. Ed was instrumental in the formation of the AE “Medical Advisory Board” as well as the development of the “Community Seed Grant” program. We are proud to name the program in his memory.
Ed was passionate about research and his infectious, big-thinking style made anything seem possible. He was proud of the fact that the many research grants that have been awarded are having a positive impact on the lives of individuals suffering from AE.
Ed and his wife Bibi became involved with the Alliance when their own daughter Stephanie was diagnosed with AE. Ed realized that there were very few resources available and that he needed to put his energy and enthusiasm to work to help those in need. And he did just that, putting in countless hours communicating with medical professionals, traveling throughout the world to spread awareness and talk to anyone who would listen about the important work of the Alliance.
We lost Ed to ALS in April of 2023. Ed is survived by his wife, Bibi, his children, Kimberly, Stephanie and Michael and their spouses as well as his grandson Caleb. We miss his leadership and find comfort in knowing that the work he has done in this part of his life as a volunteer with the AE Alliance has had a profound impact on the people we serve.
