This is a picture of me celebrating how far I've come in the last four years since my diagnosis and treatment for autoimmune encephalitis. I was fortunate in that it only took four months of tests to reach a diagnosis and start treatment. I had a prompt decrease in symptoms with minimal side effects to the first prescribed treatment that I received all within thirty minutes of my home. Most people diagnosed with autoimmune encephalitis have very different experiences and this is why I believe the work of the Alliance is so important. I found the Alliance and its support groups after a few false starts. I'm so glad I kept searching. The education and support I've received has made the ups and downs of my recovery so much easier. I know the Alliance will continue to support me in the future. It's now time for me to give back and support others on their journey in any way I can.
