Many thanks to Dr. Maarten J Titulaer, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Neurology, Erasmus University Medical Center, Rotterdam, the Netherlands, AEA Medical Advisory Board Member for speaking at our January 2025 AEA Provider Monthly Education Series and presenting Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis.
Since the initial description of anti-NMDAR encephalitis in 2005, we have been able to determine the full width of presentations of this disease. This has led to more accurate and earlier diagnosis and treatments. Nevertheless, careful and extended follow-up has also provided us with remaining deficits and incomplete recovery in too many patients. We need to improve long-term prognosis in anti-NMDAR encephalitis, and I will try to provide some.
