Profile

Bio

Michael Kruer MD is a board certified pediatric neurologist and fellowship-trained (Oregon Health & Science University) clinical neuroimmunologist. He is a member of the pediatric neuroimmunology section within the Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Michael has additional expertise in movement disorders and neurogenetics. He has a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of rare neurological disorders, which is the focus of his research laboratory at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix (kruerlab.org). During his training and as a faculty member, Dr. Kruer has performed research on the role of autoimmunity in neurological disease, specifically focusing on how autoantibodies directed against brain proteins may lead to disease. Working collaboratively with other investigators, his work has identified new diseases, novel autoantibody targets of disease, and developed new protocols for treating patients with refractory disease.
