Yoga Time

December 23, 2019

New this year at the AEA Family Weekend is Yoga Time! On Sunday morning we will kick off the day with a Yin yoga class given by Meg Poe.

As the name suggests, Yin yoga works on the yin tissues, also known as the connective tissues. Connective tissue responds best to a slow, steady load, which is why you hold the poses for longer. If you gently stretch connective tissue by holding a yin pose for a long time, the body will respond by making it a little longer and stronger – which is exactly what you want.

On an energetic level, Yin yoga improves energy flow and enhances the flow of chi in the organs. The practice also offers huge mental and emotional benefits, as you’ll find out.

Meg is a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach, teacher of yoga, Pilates and mindfulness, and founder of Poe Wellness Solutions, LLC. She has almost 30 years of teaching experience and brings an interesting mix of knowledge to her classes (Duke Certified Integrative Health Coach, E-RYT200, RYT500, MA-Exercise Physiology-UNC-CH, MA-Experimental Psychology-Towson University). More importantly, she brings to her students her passion for movement, awareness, transformation, healing and learning through doing and being.

A special thanks to Caterri and Jeff Woodrum for making this class possible.
