Looking for a way to get more involved? Become a volunteer with the Autoimmune Encephalitis Alliance! We are excited for you to show your passion to support the AE Community. Below you can find some examples of how you can volunteer for the AE Alliance.

Patient and Caregiver Community

Share Your Journey.

Everyone has a story, and we’d like for you to share yours. Don’t worry – we can help, including editing and formatting. We receive so much positive feedback from those who have found comfort reading about others’ experiences through our blog, and just as many kind words from those who write for us and find solace in sharing their story.

Volunteer at the AEA Family Weekend

The AEA Family weekend is a place for those affected by autoimmune encephalitis to come together, connect, and learn. We need people to help with registration, promotion, directing participants, and serving as a steward during the weekend. The AE Family Weekend will take place each June.

Volunteer for the Florence Forth run/walk race.

The Florence Forth road race, held annually in Durham, NC on the first Saturday in March, is the largest annual fundraiser for AEA.  It takes a ton of volunteers to host 1000 runners and walkers. You will have a blast being part of the event. We always need people to help with registering runners, passing out water on the course, directing racers, putting out traffic cones, etc. We have needs on both race day (Saturday) and the day before the race (Friday).

Have a specific skill you think could help us, let us know?

We offer several resources for our community, including (scientific) blogs, a quarterly newsletter, video recordings from past webinars, conferences, and more. Do you have a background in writing? Do you speak multiple languages? Do you have experience with graphic design, or e-commerce? We would love to hear from you!
